filter elements are produced by cold isostatic pressing. By this processing method the manufacture of seamless porous elements up to 1500 mm length and 320 mm diameter by differential wall thickness and pore sizes is possible. The pore size is made to measure from 0.5 µm to 200 µm. Sintering turns SIKA-R...IS elements into dimensionally stable, metallically strong components which can be used as self-supporting constructional elements. The pores are fixed in terms of size and position. The isostatic pressing allows simultaneous, seamless compaction of flanges and threads. Thereby the mounting of e.g. such filter cartridges and filter tubes in the filter apparatus is very much simplified. A characteristic of the isostatic technique, as opposed to other manufacturing technologies is that smaller quantities can also be economically produced.
Chemical Resistance and Thermal Stability
As a general rule, the chemical and thermal characteristics of sinter metals are the same as those of the solid materials used. However, the size of the specific surface area should be taken into account when assessing the chemical properties of any high-porosity component (sinter metal).
